Invitation to a banquet held in the (Royal) Exhibition Building on 8 August 1888. The invitee is T F de Courcy Browne Esq, M.L.A. Thomas Frederic de Courcy Browne was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of the NSW Parliament from October 1885 to January 1889.

The Melbourne Centennial International Exhibition opened on 1 August 1888 and closed at the end of January 1889. It celebrated 100 years of British settlement, and was the largest public event Melbourne had ever seen. Nearly two million tickets were sold, and many people made multiple visits.
