Black and white photograph of an aerial view taken towards Hampshire Road is of the soldier settlement area. The land was sold by H.V McKay to the Federal Government for the establishment of a soldier settlement which became present-day Albion. The settlement was bounded by Adelaide, Kamarooka, Coolamon, Gunnedah, Hamel, Ballantine and Sydney Streets. The suburb of Sunshine is on the right starting from Kamarooka Street, with King Edward Avenue in the centre.

Photograph is located in an album: Volume One, "Views of Factory and Branches" p.157. This is one of 25 albums that provide detailed visual documentation of the activities of the McKay enterprise.

This image is part of a collection of photographs, negatives, business and personal archives, moving film, artefacts, documents and trade literature belonging to the H. V. McKay Sunshine Collection. The Australian operations of this company were originally founded by H.V McKay in the 1890s. The McKay collection is regarded as one of the most significant industrial heritage collections in Australia.
