This condom packet, along with other items including letters and luggage tags, would have belonged to one of the RAAF servicemen stationed at the (Royal) Exhibition Building between 1940-1945. The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) used the building and grounds as a training school during WWII with up to 700 men stationed there at any one time.

During replacement floorworks to the balcony/gallery level in 1989 many items dating back to the RAAF use of the building were found, providing an insight into the lifestyle and interests of the men stationed there.
