Alternative Name(s): Notice

Framed notice that once hung in a lift of the Colonial Mutual Life building on the corner of Collins and Elizabeth Streets. It dates from the 1930s when workers worked very defined hours, arrived at essentially the same time, took the same lunch hours, and finished work at the same time. Male office workers would wear hats to work, and this sign requests them to keep them on their heads in the lift, in order to allow more room so that more people could ride in the lift at busy times.

Physical Description
