  • Rock Description

This specimen appears to be a volcanic breccia composed of three differing rock types. The main rock type is a grey trachyte composed of small laths of feldspar showing a flow orientation along with occasional black amphiboles. The second rock type appears to be a scoraceous, black basalt. These two rock types are "welded" together by a very fine grained greenish grey rock which comtains small black bits possibly parts of the basalt. Previously called Trachyte with Hornblende.
