The Bendigo Queer Film Festival (BQFF) celebrates its 20th festival in March. Here are some of the items collected from the very first Festival in 2004. Among the t-shirts, tickets and programs, are the stories of how this important regional festival began, the challenges and triumphs its convenors have faced, and the enjoyment and pride it brought to the LGBTIQ+ community.
To celebrate International Women's Day, we are highlighting women in Museums Victoria's collections. Featured here are two rare books that were illustrated by women, an article on the Invisible Farmer Project which uncovered stories of Australian women in agriculture, and the Ada Perry Collection of handcrafts.
Rainbow Threads is an exhibition that celebrates the diversity of styles and stories that live within the Museum’s clothing and textile collections. Showcasing a selection of recent acquisitions, they reflect the inclusive nature of museums in the 21st-century in both the objects we collect and the narratives that we tell. Behind the glitz and the glamour on show, are stories of struggle, determination and triumph that deserve to be told.
