General Description

Body mottled purple and grey. Carapace oval shape with rounded sides, eight or more ridges on the top and two notches on each side. Up to 8 cm wide (carapace).


Swift-footed Shore Crabs are fast moving. They often hide in crevices during the day and emerge at night to forage for food. The species feeds on algae, limpets and barnacles.


Australian coasts.


Exposed rocky shores, mid to high tide level.
