General Description

Body and wing mottled light brown, head and underparts pink-brown. Back of neck black with small white spots. Young birds lack the dark patch on the neck. Adult body up to 32 cm long.


Spotted Turtle-doves are usually found in pairs or in small groups. They mainly feed on seeds and fruits, but occasionally eat insects.


Coastal eastern and southeastern mainland Australia and Tasmania. South-western WA.


Urban parks and gardens, and surrounding grasslands.
