General Description

Upperparts and wings grey, underparts orange-brown (cinnamon). Black stripe on face from the bill to the neck. Tail grey with white tip, under side with fine black and white stripes. Body up to 45 cm long.


These cuckoos lay a single egg in another bird's nest. The egg mimics the host bird's egg, which is pushed out of the nest, either by the parent cuckoo or the baby cuckoo soon after it hatches.


Mainland Australia.


Dry forests, mallee and woodlands.
