General Description

The Striated Fieldwren is a small streaky bird, boldly streaked in black, with a cocked tail and white eye stripe. The body is yellow-brown above and yellow-grey underneath. The tail has a dark band and white tip. To 13 cm.

Biology

The Fieldwren's nest is an untidy dome of stems and grass usually built low in a tussock or small bush.

Distribution

South-eastern Australia.

Habitat

Damp coastal areas, alpine heath saltmarshes, button grass plains and open areas with low ground cover.
