Tower of Honour of the Moorish Castle, around above, VALE DOS QUARTOS; in exergue, 1820
The Moorish Castle, of which the Tower of Homage and terraces are depicted on the token, was originally built in the 8th century AD. There appears to be a family group (James Spittle's?) of two adults and three children standing in the main tower window.
