Silver Denarius struck during the reign of the Emperor Hadrian between 125 and 138 AD, Ancient Roman Empire. Minted by Rome. Hadrian was Consul for the third and final time (COS III on this coin) from 1 Jan 119, the production of this coin therefore belongs after that date. It is believed the mint was largely inactive when the emperor was away from Rome 121 to late 125 AD and when production began again a new obverse legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS was used. The date of the addition of P P to the obverse legend is not known.
