The crown is a five shilling coin. The coins were produced on the new mill and screw method under the direction of Peter Blondeau.

Four crowned shields, bearing arms of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, set to form a cross with the Star of the Garter at centre; in angles, interlinked pairs of Cs; around, MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX 1673, the date being divided by the crown above the English shield.
In raised lettering, DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI VICESIMO QVINTO
