Summary

Wax apple model based on specimen from Victorian Department of Agriculture, modelled in the museum by model maker Joy Dickins on 6 December 1951 The modek depicts a Rome beauty apple with Blue Contact Mould (Penicillium italicum (Moniliaceae).

The display label reads: Rome beauty apple showing typical lesion. This fungus is common in stored apples, but infection does not occur unless the skin is punctured or damaged. Careful handling of fruit reduces losses to negligible proportions.
