Photograph album containing 49 photographs of army life in Egypt in early 1915, prior to the Gallipoli landings. The photographs were taken by Tpr (later Lt.) George Simpson Millar, 5th Australian Light Horse, AIF.
The photographs include army camps, horses, 'smoko in the desert', travelling and shopping in Egypt, camels, soldiers working and social activities. The photographs were apparently sent home by Millar. Two names and addresses have been written inside the front cover of the album. The first of these belongs to a Miss N. Millar and has been crossed out, whilst the second belongs to George S. Millar. Miss Millar's handwriting also appears on some of the pages of the album but appears to have been either crossed out or covered over, suggesting that George Millar has usurped the album.
Note: the image inscribed 'Native trading boat...' is missing from the album.
Another album containing photographs taken by Millar is held by Museum Victoria: ST 036451.
