Bedouin musket, Cal. 16 mm., smooth bore damascus barrel 1190 mm. long. Slightly swelled at muzzle, secured to stock by a number of brass bands (a later addition). Fully stocked, shoulder section decorated brass studs, peep rearsight, two crude sling swivels on left hand side.

Collected in North Africa during the War of 1914-1918, and donated to Museum Victoria in 1923. The North Africa Campaign was one of the many theatres of war during World War I, focussing on Libya and what was then southern Tripolitania.

Physical Description

Calibre .625 inch. Engravedbarrel 46 1/2 inches long; muzzle expanded. Bands of brass along the barrel, but evidently a secondary addition. Stock ornamented with brass knobs.
