Wooden model of a two-masted junk, one of a number of sailing vessels exhibited in the Straights Settlement Court at the Melbourne International Exhibition (MIE). The MIE was held in the (Royal) Exhibition Building from 1 October 1880 - 30 April 1881. At the close of the exhibition, the model was donated to the Museum by the commissioner of the Straits Settlement.

Physical Description

Two masted junk model with square staged bow and poop deck with a carved figure on each side. Rudder windlass located on poop deck. Ten positions and four cannons. Probably from Celebes.
