Cupping scarifier, brass, in velvet-lined leather case, used for folk medicine procedure of cupping. Spring loaded knives cut skin, warmed metal cup placed over slashes, as it cools it creates a vacuum drawing out the "bad" blood. From the late Dr J A Broben. Physical Description

Purple leather-bound cylindrical case. Inside divided into 2 compartments with purple velvet. Scarifier is brass, cube shaped with screw and lever at back, and release button at side. An adjustible lid fits snugly over the device, with twelve slits in top through which spring-loaded knives may project or retract. Cup is missing, protective chamois cup cover present. Use extreme caution when handling.
