Sailmakers Sewing Palm made circa 1985-1986. The palm was used by visually impaired workers in the matmaking workshop at the Royal Victorian for the Blind Institute during the binding of mats to protect their hands. According to factory workers Tom Jennings and Monty James, this palm was brought into the Factory by a Scot, Stuart Allen, who worked in the Factory as a production officer between 1985 and 1986.

Physical Description

Leather band made to wrap around palm, with hole for thumb. Small metal inset in palm of hand and small metal fastening clip on back.
