Mat with image of a lighthouse made by Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind Factory workers, circa 1966. The mat was made by visually impaired workers at the R.V.I.B. matmaking workshop. Current workers believe it was made for the 1966 centenary of the R.V.I.B. The lighthouse is the symbol of the R.V.I.B.

Physical Description

Rectangular, wooden frame (hung portrait style from wire attached to back) with coir mat inside. Mat has picture of lighthouse stencilled onto coir in black and green dyes.
