This large glossy poster was produced by the Museum of Victoria to promote the Phar Lap exhibition at the old Museum in Swanston Street in the 1990s.

Physical Description

Large rectangular glossy paper poster, with brown print on yellow background, advertising an exhibition on Phar Lap at the Museum of Victoria, 328 Swanston Street, Melbourne. The poster is headed 'Phar Lap' in yellow print on a brown background, and then reproduces the front page of 'The Herald' of Tuesday evening, 4 November 1930. The page has a photograph of the finish of the Cup, with Phar Lap winning by several lengths; there are also photographs of Jim Pike, Mr J. Davis and Harry Telford. At the bottom of the poster is the legend 'A great exhibition at the Museum of Victoria.' The exhibition was supported by the Herald Sun, the Spring Racing Carnival, and TabCorp.
