It is part of a collection of badges assembled by the donor while active in left-wing politics at the University Melbourne, circa 1979-1986. The slogan refers to the punch line of a joke about Australian men: What is the Australian animal that most resembles the Australian male? The wombat, because he eats, roots, and leaves.
