On front cover: to/Hans W.H. Irvine esq., M.H.R., J.P./Stawell 18 May 1911.
Inscription reads: "To Hans W.H. Irvine Esq/... Dear sir/your many friends in this...Grampians electorate, tender to you their warmest thanks for the good work you have this recent referenda. Signed Geo. Barnes & Geo Mitchum".

H.W.H. Irvine was the federal Member for the House of Representatives for the Grampians from 1906 to 1914. The referenda referred to in the address concerned the federal Labor Government's proposal to amend the Constitution to give federal Parliament power over all trade & commerce, monopolies, corporations, employment & wages. The electorate rejected two such referenda in 1911 & 1913.

Illuminated address was made by Arnold & Jackson, 1911.

"The Irvine Wine Collection was acquired by Museum Victoria in 1989. It represents the history of the Great Western Vineyard and the achievements of Hans William Henry Irvine, vigneron and politician, from 1888 until 1922. It comprises 130 items ranging from publications, marketing items, packaging materials, wine labels, award medals, ceramics, illuminated address, commemorative trowel, trophy plaques, wine makers tools, and silverware."
