Part of the duties of attendants at psychiatric institutions was to clean and groom patients. Attendants often cut and styled patients' hair. It is not as yet known as to whether this was used on staff or patients.
Crimping tongs with wooden handles consist of two prongs and a sheet of metal bent in a "w" shape which lever together.
