Tastevin kept highly polished and used to smell or check colour of wine sample.

The regular mounds on the base are designed to reflect light and check brightness of the wine. Often suspended on chain or cord around neck and used by merchants/buyers.

Physical Description

Shallow silver cup with convex base with regular raised mounds on the surface. Base of cup relatively narrow becoming wider at the rim. On one side of the cup is a small silver scroll like handle with an inscription appearing on the opposite surface.
