Small piece of carbolic soap, made at Beechworth prison from carbolic and fat obtained from the abbatoirs. Soap and bread made at the Beechworth prison was given to Mayday Hills Hospital in exchange for fresh fruit and vegetables. Judy Corbett, a member of the staff at Kew, remembers that it was very good for washing hair - it gave a healthy shine.
