The painting depicts guluwirri, the sacred palm tree which is a sand palm. The leaves have been bitten into by dhapalany, centipedes or "itchy" caterpillars as they are commonly known. The ripened fruit is poisonous and pounded and placed water to leach out the toxins before being cooked and eaten.
