This round head piece, known as memp or memba in the Arrernte languages, was collected by T.G.H. Strehlow from a Pintubi person he encountered duing an expedition in the 1930s. Memba are commonly made made of emu-feathers and hairstring, and are used by Central Australia men to support their headdresses.
