Summary

These belts made with human hair string are the type usually worn by men. James Ponder collected this belt during a short stay at Milingimbi mission in May 1937. Mrs Ella Shepherdson recorded in her diary that on Tuesday 25 May 'Mr Ponder [had] gone out to Rabuma for a few days' and noted that he returned to Milingimbi on Saturday 29 May.
