Copy of a medal bearing a portrait of Archbishop Onofrio Bartolini de' Medici of Pisa (1493-1521). The original medal, by Giovanni Zacchi of Bologna, was made in about 1500. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. It is thought that this electrotype was produced in association with an exhibition of medals in the King's Library in 1881 and was acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria where it was displayed probably in the late 1880s.This two sided electrotype is copper plated and toned. The original was a lead cast two sided medal in the British Museum collection (Reg: M.8860).
