Copy of a medal depicting Maximilian of Austria and Maria of Burgundy. The original medal by Giovani Candida was probably produced in 1477 for their marriage. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 Robert Ready. It is thought that this electrotype was produced in association with an exhibition of medals in the King's Library in 1881 and was acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria where it was displayed probably from the late 1880s.The electrotype is copper plated and toned. The two sided bronze cast original is in the British Museum collection (Reg: M.3149)
