Copy of a medal depicting John Kendal. The original medal in the manner of Niccolo Fiorentino was cast in 1480. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. This electrotype copy was made circa 1881 at British Museum by Robert Ready from a bronze cast held by that museum (Reg. 1866,0920.1). The electrotype in copper plated and toned. This medal commemorates the recruitment of men to assist Knights of St John of Jerusalem in resisting the Turk.

Reverse Description

Arms of Kendal; around, TEMPORE . OBSIDIONIS . TVRCHORVM . MCCCCLXXX (translation: At the time of the siege by the Turks, 1480.)
