Summary

Copy of a medal depicting the artist Andrea Briosco, known as Riccio. The original medal was from the School of Padua and made in about 1532. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. This electrotype is made from a cast bronze medal held by the British Museum (perhaps Reg: G3,IP.254).

Bust of Andrea Riccio facing left, wearing a mantle, in the field to left, a leaf. around, 'ANDREAS CRISPVS . PATAVINVS . AEREVM . D . ANT . CANDELABRVM . F .' (translation: Andreas Riccio of Padua who made the bronze candelabrum of St Antony).

Reverse Description

A broken tree, with a new shoot growing from its base; above, a star; around, '. OBSTANTE. . GENIO .'.
