Badge commissioned by the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation, a statutory authority established in 1991. By 2001 the Council had become inactive, due in large part to the lack of political commitment for reconciliation by the then coalition (Liberal and National parties) government, under the leadership of John Howard.

This badge belonged to Amy Turner, a member of the Uniting Church. Amy had a strong commitment to social justice and conservation. Her small collection of badges and mementos captures some of the campaigns she championed, as well as other events that took place in Melbourne during her lifetime.
