Physical Description

A single sheet of bark (Stringybark, Eucalytpus tetrodonta) painted with natural pigments. The image is of a baru, a crocodile.


This painting is amongst the earliest bark paintings produced at Milingimbi. The ones that predate these were collected by the American anthropologist Lloyd Warner (around 8 works) in 1927-8 and Olive Lambert (1 work painted on both sides) from around 1930.
