This is described as man's basket used for carrying personal belongings. It is tightly woven and the outer surface is decorated with distinctive patterning. Strips of coloured cloth are stitched in horizontal bands.

Physical Description

A twined conical basket made from pandanus with a close weave. It is painted with natural pigments in broad horizontal bands separated by lines of cloth stitched into the body of the basket. It has solid blocks of colour, dots painted onto an ochre background and triangular forms painted on the surface. The multi-strand vegetable fibre string handle is attached to the rim of the basket at the back.
