This undyed oval mat has been twined with rough bark fibre. Mats of various types were valuable items made and used by women in the past. Some were worn, some used as working surfaces, some used as aids in food preparation and some used for ceremonial occasions.

Roslyn was one of the artists who travelled to museums in 2004 to examine historic works for the exhibition and book Twined Together. Roslyn experiments with raw bark fibre and string, frequently producing asymmetrical forms.
