Summary

This coiled basket is made with solid bands of dyed and undyed pandanus, and its top is wider than its bottom. It has two coiled pandanus handles which are attached on opposite sides. Rose Nababbob is known for combining many types of patterns in her baskets and this mixture is referred to as mammiledilhdilhmiken.

Physical Description

Basket, coiled, with solid bands of dyed pandanus (orange, purple) and undyed pandanus with long lengths of two stitch. It has two long rigid coiled handles that emerge from the last coil bundle at the rim on opposite sides.

Significance

The work of Rose Nabobbob is characterised by a combination of different coiling techniques in the same piece. She often produces very large pieces and was accepted into the 2003 Telstra Art awards.
