Most of the body of this bowl by Robyn Nabegeyo has bands of cross-coiling and open coiling. In coiling the stitch itself can change the way a pattern is formed, when the stitches are placed close and tight against each other, colours are intensified and more complex patterns can be made. Using the same stitch but changing the distance between the stitches exposes the coil bundle underneath, the colour composition of the coil then adding to the pattern.

Robyn often works in partnership with her co-wife, Garnbaladj Nabegeyo. Some of their collaborative pieces are feathered string bags, they also make similar open coiled baskets.
