Summary

This coiled saucepan bowl by Labidja Dirdi has been made with solid bands of dyed pandanus and three rows of chequered pattern near the top, formed using mainly multiples of three. The pattern consists of alternating blocks of orange and purple that fit directly above each other - the beginning of vertical stripes.

Labidja Dirdi was a senior artist who spent time in her youth at both Gunbalanya and Goulburn Island. Labidja worked mainly in the coiling technique, her forms include lidded baskets and large carrying baskets. her favourite colour combinations were hot pink and yellow.

Saucepan bowl, coiled, with solid bands of dyed pandanus (orange and purple) and three rows of chequered pattern near the top. . It has two short rigid coiled handles that emerge from the last two coils at the top of the basket.
