Summary

This colourful coiled basket has multiple patterns and block colours of dyed and undyed pandanus divided by crossed coiling. The two sided, single coil handles are attached in the middle of the bag on opposite sides. Colour is very important to the artists at Injalak and all materials used to produce the colours are derived from natural sources in the artists own environment. There is also seasonal variation in the types of dyes used which is reflective of the plant growth in the region.
