Description of Content

Adelie Penguins at Proclamation Island. Icebergs can be seen in the far distance. Eric Douglas said 'Adelie Penguins sun baking on the slopes of Proclamation Rock'. Although this land feature became 'Proclamation Island' it had just been discovered and at this early stage to call it Proclamation Rock was quite acceptable. Photograph taken on the British Australian New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE), Voyage 1.
