Black and white photograph showing a Returned and Services League sports day and picnic at Silvan Reservoir in the Dandenong Ranges, in 1948 or 1949.

The Beedles family took part in this picnic. Russell Beedles remembers his mother Anne Beedles had been playing tennis and his father Jack had been playing cricket at the picnic. His mother is sitting in the middle of the group, and is wearing sunglasses. According to his family, 'Jack Beedles would have been a member of the RSL because of his military service in New Guinea during World War II.'
