This glass ink well was excavated at the Commonwealth Block site between 1988 and 2003.

Writing implements, found throughout Little Lon, indicate that writing was a commonplace activity. The pens, pencils and inkwells are a tantalizing reminder of words forgotten long ago.

Physical Description

This is a small green glass ink well. It has a flat top and base and is shaped like a hexagonal tea kettle. It has a spout, which is broken, protruding from one side.

Unidentified green glass object. Has a spout/ broken handle protruding from the side. Object is a 'Tea Kettle' shape. Base/ Top diameter 30mm, Base/ Top diameter 45mm (opposite end) height 40mm. Identified by Christine Williamson, Latrobe Uni., as an inkwell.
