Summary

The hooked barbs were made to be used in hunting dugong or turtle. A hunter in a standing position inside a canoe would hurl a harpoon at the animal and the barb would be embedded in it. A long section of light rope is attached to the barb with a float that enables the hunter to follow the animal until it tires and then catch it.

Physical Description
