The bark canoe is made from a single sheet of bark that has been heated and bent then stitched at either ends to form a hull. Saplings are secured along the length on the hull on both sides and further strengthened by wooden strakes set across inside the hull.

A model or small bark canoe made from a single sheet of bark stitched at one end to form a point and cut off squarely at the aft. The edges are reinforced with saplings and wood strakes are tied across the hull with cane.
