Album containing photographs of people, settings and items of material culture from New Britain. Handwritten inscription inside front cover of album: 'Memories that never die ... / Vunapopi 3rd July 1932'/ G.J. Vesters/ [illegible] [illegible] Rabaul'. Album and photographs were sighted in 2008 by Dr Ron Vanderwal (Former Senior Curator, Oceania) who advised that images were related to the Sulka people of New Britain, Papua New Guinea. The album appears to have been compiled by Vesters in July 1932 and the photographs taken by P.J. Obbereiter in late 1920s or early 1930s as his name is imprinted near the bottom right corner of some photographs.
