Summary

Description of Content

View from the first floor balcony of the Superintendent Engineer's residence 'Blair Athol', at Spotswood Pumping Station, looking north east towards the Yarra River. On the left behind a timber paling fence is the glassworks storage yard, with the railway siding for delivery of coal to Pumping Station extending through an opening in the fence. In the foreground is the much overgrown upper yard of the Pumping Station. A delivery van is driving up the roadway crossing the yard heading towards Booker Street. Beside the roadway is a small weatherboard hut or cabin, possibly associated with a weighbridge. In the background part of the roof of North Straining House and Corrugated Iron Workshop can be seen below the embankment in the North Courtyard and beyond a large passenger steamship is moving down the river under towage by a steam tug.
