Leather dog collar worn in Antarctica in 1993 by husky Morrie, one of the last group of huskies used in Antarctica. It is part of Museum Victoria's collection of artefacts from the post-war era of scientific exploration of Antarctica.

Physical Description

Leather collar for husky dog, comprised of one single thick strap of brown leather, lined with suede padding, and a metal buckle attached to one end. A metal name plate is attached to the collar with "MORRIE" stamped into it.


The Antarctic huskies represent a key part of the working lives of people in Antarctica and also the shift to a new regime of environmental management of Antarctica.
