Patch presented in 2001 by the Beechworth Women on Farms Gathering committee for the Women on Farms Gathering perpetual banner. The theme for the Beechworth Gathering was 'The New Pioneers.' The patch is now attached to the perpetual banner which is used at the Gathering each year.
This item is part of the Invisible Farmer Project. A key aim of this project is to redress the absence of rural women in mainstream histories and museums.

Physical Description

Square of unbleached calico with a machine appliqued central logo, featuring hand embroidery. The logo depicts two human silhouettes with their arms almost touching (in red), a computer screen and keyboard (in yellow) and a satellite dish (in green). Black text is embroidered in the green satellite dish and reads: 'the new pioneers'. Red lettering is applied with blanket stitch above and below the logo and reads: 'NORTH EAST/REGION 2001'.
